West Side Story IV 5.12c R

Fixed Pin doesn’t just publish guidebooks. We also try to just go climbing every now and then. Recently, FP owner Jason Haas and friend Rob Pizem free-climbed West Side Story in Utah’s Fisher Towers. Along the way, they managed to replace about a dozen bolts. Jason also broke two bones in a foot after a big whip. He returned a month later for the first one-day free ascent, leading all nine of the pitches. Check out the full story on Climbing’s website. Jason created this topo for anyone else interested in climbing some of the best mud in the west.

Rock CLimbing Grand Ledge, MI

While reminiscing about the good old days with his college buddy Chris Nowak, Jason decided to get back to his roots where he learned to rock climb and the two created this free comprehensive color guide for all the poor college students at nearby Michigan State University. Let us know what you think and we hope you enjoy it! Click here for easy web-viewing or here to download your complimentary copy, which is laid out so you can easily fold it into a book format.

Rock Climbing Staunton State Park

Staunton is the newest state park in Colorado. While the area had been climbed at before, development was virtually nonexistent until the summer of 2012. During that time, over 60 routes were established, from 5.3 to 5.12+. Most are trad or mixed, but there are also about a dozen sport routes here. Virtually all of those routes were at Staunton Rocks, while the Elk Creek Spires and Lion's Head were left untouched. Download this free guide to see what's been done and what hasn't so you can nab your own first ascent!
